To be effective in this life, we have to learn to pray. If our children are ever to find their God-given gifts and follow their dreams, they must be able to communicate with their Lord. The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray. Lord, teach us to pray.

This prayer is known as the Lord’s Prayer, but it might qualify as a teaching prayer. Another one of Jesus’ prayers is found in John 17, just before Judas betrays Him. It is the High Priestly Prayer. In the prayer, He prays for you as well as me. He gives us a model, an example, or, in modern terms, a template for prayer.
