Your bill has been paid

I don't know about you, but going out for dinner is always great. Trying new food with great company always leads to an amazing time! But do you know what's even better? Going to pay for the bill and finding out that someone has already paid! It's always such a nice surprise, and when we talk about Jesus, that's just like what He did for humanity. He paid the price for sin. 

You see, humanity is born into sin [Rom 5:12; 3:23]. Our sins are the things we’ve done wrong to God, to others and ourselves. Sin resulted in us being separated from God [Eph 2:12]. You see, God is Holy, which means He is perfect. Therefore, to have access to God, we too have to be perfect [Eph 2:18]. But as you know, none of us are perfect, no matter how hard we try. God knew we couldn’t get to Him on our own, and He wanted so desperately to have a relationship with us that He sent Jesus. Jesus, God’s Son, died on the cross to take on the consequence of our sin [Rom 6:23]. Therefore, anyone who believes in Jesus as their Lord and Saviour now has access to God [John 3:16]. So that now when God, the Father looks at us, He looks at us through Jesus' actions and sees us as Holy in His eyes [1 Peter 2:9]. This now allows us to be in His presence. To put it simply, the bill of your sin has been paid by Jesus and now you are free to have a relationship with God.

PRAYER

Jesus, thank You that You died for my sins and that I now have access to You. Thank You for paying the bill of my sin, so that I didn’t have to. I pray over the 6 days that I will understand what You have done for me more each day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
