Skills that pay the bills
Comfort zones are funny things, to one individual, jumping out of the plane is comfortable, while for others it's terrifying and they'd prefer to drink a hot tea on the couch with a good book. Regardless of where you sit on that spectrum, we all have a point where our comfort zone ends. For most people, that endpoint is when someone mentions the idea of sharing our faith. But what's fascinating is that from the very beginning of Christianity, people have always felt the same fears in the same ways, but it's been ordinary men and women who stepped out amidst their fear and uncertainty that have changed the world for Jesus, even though they were afraid.
If you were assembling a group of people to spread your message, wouldn't you invite the best communicators of your day? Or the people who knew the Bible the most? Well, that’s not what Jesus did. The first four Disciples Jesus chose were fisherman [Mark 1:16-20]. It’s significant because fishermen were not trained communicators or bible scholars, they were very ordinary people. It demonstrates to us that Jesus wasn't concerned with their skills [Mark 1:16-18], but their hearts [1 Sam 16:7]. Like we previously talked about on Day 17. He will equip you! Your responsibility is just to be hungry for the things of God [2 Chronicles 16:9]. These skills that you don't think you have, Jesus will supply as you step out in faith to share about Jesus with others.
PRAYER
Jesus, thank You that You just don't call me, but that You equip me. I pray for whatever is blocking my confidence to share my faith will be removed in Jesus name! I also ask for opportunities to step out and share the Gospel. In Jesus' name, Amen.
