Spiritual Discipline

DAY 2 OF 6

CHILDREN VS ADULT

Do we still remember the poster of a cute boy smiling with the words “NO PROBLEM” written underneath? Yes, childhood is considered a fun time. There is an important difference between childhood and adulthood concerning problems.

Children are not without problems. They used to face problems by crying. It is rare for children not to cry when they fall whether they are injured or not. Children will usually cry too when they are disciplined for being disobedient or naughty. Children will cry when there is a problem with a friend at the playground. Crying is considered to be the solution to all problems they face. This is the hallmark of the childhood that is experienced by all of us.

Adults will certainly behave differently. Not all problems could be faced with crying. We know when to cry and when to face problems with solutions and resilience.

The same thing applies in spiritual matters. Spiritual children will naturally think, behave, and act like children. Since they are still children, many things can make them follow their feelings by being a cry baby, feeling emotional, etc. A family will face many problems when the husband or the wife is still a child. The church will face many difficulties when many of its members are still children even though they have been there for years. Therefore, God wants us to grow, both physically and spiritually. Physical growth occurs automatically over time. However, growth in mindset and spirituality requires the hard work of the believers throughout their lives.

Today’s devotional

1. Let us be honest before the Lord. Are we now spiritually mature or are we still spiritual children? What is the basis for this confession?

2. How long will it take for us to achieve the maturity desired by the Lord? What are our efforts to achieve them?

Today’s actions

Think of a case that happened to us when we were still children. Compare this with the things that we should do as adults. List the pros and cons for our childhood and adult attitudes to the problem.

About this Plan

Spiritual Discipline

Every person will surely grow both physically and spiritually. Physically, we need food to support our body’s growth. Spiritually, we also need spiritual food, which is the word of God, to support our spiritual condition. We need to make sure that our daily spiritual food is sufficient and nutritious. Let’s have spiritual discipline so that our spiritual life will grow faster and higher.
