Faithfulness and Perseverance Sample
THE TRUE FAITHFULNESS
The word for resigning is “hupestello” which is synonymous with withdrawing. Abraham is an example of a man who did not back down from his faith despite the challenges. Trial after trial must be passed. Abraham had to wait for the birth of his son after Sarah had passed the age of childbearing and he was very old himself. He even had to offer his only son as a burnt offering. Until the time near his death, Abraham still could not find the land. He only watched it from afar, yet he never wanted to return to Ur of the Chaldeans (Hebrews 11: 13-16). Abraham did not only experience the test of faith once – when he had to sacrifice his son. The test lasted his whole life but Abraham proved himself to be faithful.
Abraham's faithfulness was a true faithfulness that is based on faith. True faithfulness is not motivated by physical blessings. Today, many people think that they deserve God's blessing because they are faithful to Him. They become disappointed and angry when God does not bless them in exchange for their faithfulness. They will resign and even stop being faithful because being faithful is their motive of following the Lord. It's really sad.
God cannot be bribed by our faithfulness. Everything that happens in our lives every day is used by God to build up and test our faithfulness to Him. The process of building and testing will continue until we are called home by the Lord. It is easy for Him to bless us. However, He cares more about how we could grow in our faithfulness in Him.
Therefore, do not step back when life becomes difficult. Do not withdraw from the path of life with God - no matter how difficult it may be. Let us not hope that this mortal world will improve. The world will perish – and when that happens, it's our faithfulness that counts.
