The Journey to the Cross in ASLSample
Arrested
Mark 14:43-46 begs the question, “What would you do at that moment?”
These verses show the quickness of the events that unfolded in Jesus’ life and ministry. The Son of God was about to die. He knew it was coming, He took the time and met with His disciples for the last supper and then took time for prayer.
The end of Christ's life came through a kiss. Judas, a disciple and close friend of Christ’s, betrays Him. He led a group of soldiers straight to Jesus to be handed over and killed. When he kissed Jesus, that was the moment Christ was given into the government’s hands to be crucified.
What would you have done at that moment? How would you have responded to being taken away?
In movies, we always see that when people are being taken away, there is usually resistance. A fight back. But, at this moment, we see that Jesus doesn’t resist. He complies. He knew that this moment is crucial for the ministry and for the kingdom to come.
What is even more amazing is how Jesus responded through all that had happened. Right before, Jesus spent time having one last supper with His disciples. First Corinthians 11:13b-24a tells us, “The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you.”’ At that moment, in the midst of His betrayal, He chose to think of others and bless them.
Jesus isn’t like us. We, most likely, would have an opposite reaction. He was, and is, human enough to engage with us and to feel their betrayal but focused enough to love and honor God to the end.
He was the lamb who was slain from the creation of the world, so that we might know Him and have a relationship with Him (Revelation 13:8 NIV)

About this Plan
Every year we take time before Easter to reflect on the week of the Cross and the sacrifice that Jesus made. We do this to experience a deeper relationship with Christ. For the next ten days, let’s take time together, pause, and reflect on the key moments of the Journey to the Cross.
