Devotions From John's GospelSample

Judas, a quiet person seeks to know why this special revelation is to the disciples only. Jesus patiently repeats His teaching but with an interesting twist and amazing addition. Compare verses 21 and 23: what leads to the other: in verse 21 obedience precedes love and in verse 23 love goes before obedience. Jesus is no more talking about keeping “my commandment” but “my word”. In verse 24, it gains a new dimension: it is the ”word of the Father”. The amazing news is that God the Father and God the Son will make their home with us.
Dear sister, brother! They are coming to rest and relax – to be at home with you! Jesus is not a stranger to simplicity, even that of a manger in a stable. When you hear the knock, run up and open the door in love. It is them coming home to rest and relax in the comfort of your love.
Prayer
Loving Jesus, Your word is life eternal. I shall keep it because I love you. Thank you for choosing to be at home with me. In love, I prepare myself as your home. Come home!
Jesus might say…..
My child, your love is precious. I and my father are coming home to stay. When I knock, please open up and let us in. I shall help you to open up by and by those areas closed to me so far.
