The Lord is good
People who have served God all of their life, confess: “You are good and do good” (Psalm 119:68). They even encourage us to experience this ourselves: “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!” (Psalm 34:8).
God is good, and his creation was also perfect. We read in Genesis 1:31: “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.” Unfortunately, later the goodness of creation was distorted by the devil’s influence. But there is still a lot of “good” left in this world. These good things remind us of the ultimately good God that created them, and it makes us long for the restoration of creation’s full beauty at the end of time.
God shows us what is good, and he wants us to follow his standards: “Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.” (Psalm 34:14).
