Colossians: Jesus Over EverythingSample

Colossians: Jesus Over Everything

DAY 2 OF 8

Jesus will always be King

Devotional:

In this passage, the Apostle Paul shows the awesomeness of Christ and what He has done for us. We trust and follow Jesus because He is the ruler, creator, and sustainer of all things. We see here that Jesus has always been Plan A for our salvation. He didn’t come after other failed attempts to rescue us failed. He was always the plan through which we would receive the grace and mercy of God.

The Lordship of Jesus displayed in this passage shows us that life is not about us, it’s about Him. This is a freeing reality. We no longer have to live to impress people or prove our worth to others. In fact, all of those who belong to Christ have nothing to prove and no one to impress.

We have nothing to prove because Jesus was and is perfection for us. We have no one to impress because the King of the universe already loves us. This means that we truly are free to love God and love people without trying to figure out ways to make God love us more or gain the approval of others.

This passage in Colossians shows us that Jesus is over everything. He sees everything and knows everything. Not only that, but He has made it possible for us to be reconciled to Him. And as the creator and sustainer of all things, this also means that Jesus will always be King.

Jesus is King in your suffering and in your successes. Jesus is King when you doubt and when you are faithful. Jesus will always be King, which means he can always be trusted. There is salvation in no one else, and there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.

Today’s reflection:

In what areas of your life do you need to be reminded that Jesus is still in control? Spend some time praying, reflecting, and asking God to help you trust Him in the parts of your life that are causing you to worry.
