DAY 5 OF 5

Purpose

If we want to have God's coverage and favor, we must know our purpose and stick with it. When we remain in the vision of God and in what He commanded us to do, we will find the resources, the favor, the protection, and everything necessary to be able to carry out his will. When we get out of our purpose, we are completely unprotected.

I like to use the example of the difference between a soldier and a mercenary. A soldier is someone who has been trained to carry out a mission and is accountable to the army to which he belongs. Therefore, the soldier has the protection of that army. If someone messes with that soldier, he is messing with the entire army.

The mercenary has the same training as a soldier. He is as capable as a soldier, but he stands alone and without coverage. The mercenary is not aligned with the purpose of an army; instead, he is aligned with his own purpose and convenience. He is not accountable, and only looks after his own interest. Therefore, when a mercenary faces an attack, he must go to it alone, facing the enemy with no backup.

Many times in ministry, we see mercenaries—people who "minister or serve" without any coverage from God and the authorities established by Him. So, when difficulties or temptations come, they fall for the lack of support and coverage. We must stay in God's vision and purpose for our life. When we align our lives with God's purpose, we find God's protection, his favor, and his blessing.

If you have not discovered your purpose yet, ask God what it is and ask him for direction. He will show you the good works for which you were created (Ephesians 2:10) and he will teach you what you should do. You will find fullness in everything you do through God's coverage, blessing, and favor.

Let's pray together:

Dear God, thank you for speaking into my life every day. Secure my steps on your path, and always remind me how to follow you. I ask that you help me to clearly see the purpose you have for me. May I take firm steps in the call that you have placed upon me, and may I never stay away from you. I ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

We hope that these five days of teaching have been a great blessing to your life. We would also like to share with you the music that inspired this devotional. You can listen to the song Cover Us at: https://www.stevecordon.com/coverus
