Lost in Wonder: Five Day Bible Plan With Steve MorrisSample

Day Three: Wonder and Creation
Reflect:
The ancient Psalm explains in poetry how God’s creation is both precious and awesome. During the lockdown, our pets and the birds in the gardens have had a great impact on our spirituality – helping us to see God’s hand in creation. It brings to mind a touching story. On holiday one day I spoke to a farmer about his donkeys. He told me about the close bond of love between two of the creatures.
‘One day, when the farmer went to the stable where the donkeys slept, he found that Danny had died during the night. For all that night and for the coming day, Henry stood watch over his fallen friend. Occasionally he would nuzzle his old comrade, but most of the time he just stood by him in that calm, stoical donkey way.’ (Steve Morris, Lost in Wonder [Milton Keynes: Authentic Media, 2021] p.49).
Prayer:
Father, help us to appreciate your creation and to keep it safe under our stewardship. Help us to be grateful for the birds and the trees and the sky and the clouds.
