Is God Ignoring Me?

Have you ever felt God was not there? Not that you necessarily questioned your belief in Him, but that you simply did not feel Him. Maybe you were going through a season in life where you cried out to God, prayed every single day, yet nothing changed. You felt as if God was not listening because your prayers were not being answered.

Well, I am here to encourage you that you are not alone. I have experienced such a season, a season that was difficult and where I felt alone. My husband and I are pastors at Wake Church located in Conroe, Texas. When we started planting Wake, we always envisioned writing songs for the congregation. The journey of church planting is not an easy one. Though Wake officially launched in September of 2016, the groundwork for it began in 2014. Through this two-year process of working to launch Wake Church I wrote a song that emerged from all the hardship and pain. Those were days of simply trusting God, without knowing when, how, or if He would answer our prayers. 

Through this time, I was at a crossroads, in a place of desperation. Quite frankly, I felt hopeless and cried out to God for answers and direction. I wish I could say that God spoke to me immediately and answered all my prayers. The truth is I was doing everything I thought I needed to do. I was seeking His Word daily. I was praying to God, but I honestly felt as if He were ignoring me. One day, as I sat in my car, these lyrics came to me. They came to me as though I had sung them before. These lyrics were God’s answer to all I had been praying. He was teaching me something more important than what I thought I needed. Through these words, He gave me an unshakeable confidence that I could trust His faithfulness.

God is for you. He is sovereign in all things. I encourage you to read, sing, or pray the lyrics below and understand that it is an insight to His character.
