Moments for Mums: Chase Joy - Part 2Sample

As a mum we are charged with ensuring our children know love and safety. Of course, we set up boundaries for them to help them remain in that loved and safe space. If a toddler reaches for a hot stove, disobeying our call to them, the consequences are felt by their heart and hand. 

We are not too old for boundaries. Our Father has set this up for us, too, modelled by Jesus. He tells us to keep his command to love one another, and remain in his love. Living within these limits isn’t constricting. Rather, it gives us the opportunity to feel the deep joy of knowing a limitless love. That same heart we have for our children to do as they are told so that they have no reason to feel anything but our limitless love and joy, is what our heavenly Father wants for us, too.

What idols, lies, or activities are within your life that are impacting your ability to remain in the joy God has intended for you?

Prayer:

Father, forgive me for the times I have let lies or idols take hold of my heart, keeping me far from the love and joy you have for me. Help me to see the commands you have given me as a blanket of love, keeping me close to you. Amen
