Focus on the Promise and Not the Process Sample

Focus on the Promise and Not the Process

DAY 7 OF 7

REJOICE, RELAX & REGROUP

Story

It is time to go! When I heard those words, I could not wait to tell my husband. He was in physical therapy when the doctor came to his room to notify me that Mike could leave if he would consent to a few things. I did not doubt that he would agree. So, I packed up the room, went to where Mike was without seeing me and told all the therapists that Mike would be leaving today. The team scrambled together and did a surprise send-off when he was going. The smile of relief that came on his face was priceless. The tears of joy were refreshing. The doctors said that this process would be at least a year and a half, so leaving walking and off of a ventilator after eight weeks was amazing. It was a rejoicing time.

One of the conditions they sent Mike home with was to keep therapy going. After being in treatment for so long, he wanted to take a break and rejoice in being home and relax from it all so he could regroup and get right back at doing what the doctor had requested. So, he took a break. When it was time to start back up again, Mike had a hard time wrapping his mind around it all, so I called for backup. Dr. Fred Price, my backup, called Mike and encouraged him to get back in the game, so he did. We have learned how never to give up, rejoice, relax, and regroup through this challenge.

Lesson

So now you are out of the process and walking into the promise. Now what? What do you do after your life has been flipped upside down by the most painful situation imaginable and you come out victorious? You rejoice! Praise God! You relax and take a break, and then you regroup and get ready for the following process! No one likes to hear this part, but it will not catch us off guard if we know what is up ahead. We don’t have to be afraid because God sent His word to make sure we would be prepared. Romans 15:4 lets us know to have hope through the written word of God. Then 1John 5:4 tells us whatever is born of God has victory over this world. So, relax and trust God through the process because you win.

However, you will enter into another process because life is full of processes. (Remember Genesis 8:22; seedtime and harvest.) Fantastic that you have seen the manifestations of your faith. You have a faith episode under your belt. You have won. This experience will fortify your strength and trust in God even more because you know that God did it before, and He will do it again through your belief. You are going to experience a time when you can rejoice at this victory. Hopefully, your friends and family are rejoicing with you. After the adrenaline from the win wears off, you are going to realize how exhausting this experience has been for you. That is why you need a robust support system to push you through. Especially if you don’t know that your strength comes from the Lord, we can endure it by His strength.

Faith Principle

Rejoice, relax, and regroup. Once you have made it through your process, do not get comfortable because another challenge awaits your arrival. Instead, live by faith, and soon nothing will ever be too much for you to handle.

Challenge

How do you think the processes or experiences you overcame in your past prepared you for your future? One of the best ways to build your faith is to be ready to pull out the lessons gained through your challenge. Write about those lessons you acquired and share them with others.

Word Weapon

"...I pray for good fortune in everything you do and for your good health - that your everyday affairs prosper, as well as your soul! I was most happy when some friends arrived and brought the news that you persist in following the way of Truth." 3 John 1:2-3 MSG

Day 6

About this Plan

Focus on the Promise and Not the Process

This Bible plan will help you understand faith and teach you how to focus on what God has promised you. If you have gone through anything traumatic or complex, this plan will help direct your attention to what's necessary. It is imperative that you focus on what you are going to and not what you are going through.
