Discover God's Plan for Your Life!Sample
Fearless in 2022
Fear is one of the greatest obstacles to your future. I encourage you to fight it with everything you have. Consider it your own personal enemy and defeat it before you take your next step.
In 2 Timothy, the Apostle Paul exhorted his young protégé with these gripping words: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7, NKJV). Can you imagine the context of these words? Paul and Timothy faced real death threats, ridicule, and rejection daily, but Paul knew that fear had no place in the lives of world changers. Paul knew that emotions are normal. But there are moments in time when emotions are overtaken by a spirit. And not just any spirit — a spirit of fear. Wow!
Have you ever felt fear or the spirit of fear? There’s a difference that can have lifelong repercussions.
I played competitive hockey in Canada, Europe, and the U.S. I started at the age of two and played at a serious level until I was 22. It was quite a ride. It was fun, violent, terrifying, and exhilarating all at the same time. I remember facing players twice my size whose intent was to smash my teeth out and knock me unconscious. They almost succeeded. Off the rink, I was a kind, fun-loving kid, but on the ice, I was forced to adopt a different persona. My dad used to say, “the bigger they are, the harder they fall” and “fear is normal, Paul. Never back down.” B.A. Goulet was a tough hockey player — a special forces warrior who jumped out of airplanes and fought behind enemy lines. My dad was the real deal, and I wanted to please him. But deep in my heart, I was afraid.
Have you ever struggled with a fear that made you sick and paralyzed you? I’m not afraid to admit I have, and I was forced to conquer it. Though 2020 and 2021 have been rough, I’m convinced that we must depend on God to fight our way out of it. He will help us be strong, courageous, and victorious!
Will you fight your way to victory through Christ or be paralyzed by fear? Choose courage because you are a miracle.
Your friend, Paul Marc Goulet
