Advent in Israel: The Places of Israel & the Story of JesusSample

Day 25 - Be’er Sheva
Be’er Sheva means the well of the oath. Abraham made an oath here with Abimelech of Gerar in Genesis 21:22-31. God was fulfilling his promises to Abraham to protect him and his family as he wandered in a foreign land. Ultimately, God’s promise to Abraham that through his descendants all nations would be blessed (Genesis 18:9-15) is a reminder that God remembered and protected his people. From this lineage would one day come a Savior who would bring ultimate peace to the hearts of mankind.
Christmas is not possible without God’s promises to Abraham. In what ways have you seen God’s faithfulness to His promises in your life?
About this Plan

As we enter the Christmas season, we are all eager to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the point in history where God descended into humanity to bring life to a broken world. Each day leading up to Christmas, we will provide an overview of the biblical significance of a location in Israel, along with a devotional prompt that will connect that location with the life of Jesus in Scripture.
