Walking With Jesus: Five Day Bible Plan With Dr Ernest CrockerSample
Day Five: What is God saying to you now?
We each possess talents, skills and abilities obtained through experience, education or as part of our natural makeup. We are comfortable to live and work within the boundaries of these abilities on a day-to-day basis. But they may restrict us from fulfilling the very plan and purpose that God has for our lives. God often requires more and calls us to extend ourselves beyond our comfort zone, challenging us to reach out in faith by the power of his Holy Spirit.
"Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp," said Robert Browning (Andrea del Sarto, 1855).
When we listen to God, he guides and extends us to reach beyond our normal grasp. He primes and prepares us, provides the resources that we will need, and leads us forward.
The faith that we require to accept his challenge, is the "assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1). And so it was, by faith, that Peter was able to step from the boat into the storm. By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed, and went, even though he did not know where he was going. Moses, though ill-prepared, was able to stand before Pharaoh and lead his people out of Egypt. I have written of Dr Grace Warren who, though discouraged by The Royal Australian College of Surgeons from practising surgery, as she was a woman, revolutionized the surgical management of leprosy. Also, of Professor Clark who, although restricted from surgery by physical injury, was able to develop the bionic ear, bringing hearing to 500,000 profoundly deaf people. I have written of Dr. Reg, who faced imminent death at the hands of the Taliban, who called out to God, heard his voice, and was saved. He now rescues hundreds of human slaves.
Each of us may live in a dynamic, ongoing relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Will you reach out today and every day in prayer for the strength, wisdom, guidance and courage to live a victorious Christian life?
Reflect: What is God saying to you right now?
About this Plan
Daily distraction by commitments and responsibilities, and preoccupation with worldly events weigh heavily upon us. They impose so greatly on our time and space that there is little opportunity to find respite. Yet, there is One who is willing to take our hand, and lead us through each day, if only we will let him, Jesus. This study will lead you into a daily relationship with the living God.
