Married Couples: 16-Day Prayer ChallengeSample

"Love Does Not Envy"
By Maria Edelstein
“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.”—Proverbs 14:30 (NIV)
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”—Exodus 20:17 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, we come to You in this moment and ask You for wisdom and guidance, as You provide us with all we need to have a blessed life, marriage, and relationship with each other and You. Allow us to see the true blessings You provide in abundance. We confess, Lord, that we sometimes see others who seem to have more in the flesh or things we desire to have materialistically and struggle with jealousy. Lord, don’t let our jealousy and envy take over as we know this is a tactic of the enemy to distract us from You. Also, please let nothing distract us from each other. Please help us remember the true riches that are here for us on earth and await us in heaven. Allow our love for each other to continue to grow stronger with Your help. We humbly submit to You, Lord, and ask that you fill us with your spirit, love, and mercy, that we may be a representation of You in each other’s eyes, and that we would feel Your presence as we stay united as one. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
