Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "First Things First"Sample
Differences in opinion, disagreements, feelings of “mismatch” can happen in a family. Everyone has a unique personality, dissimilar likes, and dislikes. It is not surprising that these differences can spark arguments among family members.
The Bible says that family is the most important foundation of the church, city, and nation. The Christian family is meant to be like an arrow pointing to God. How can churches, cities, and nations become strong and successful? That happens when every family functions and does their part according to the Word of God.
A family that lives right will be the firm foundation of a strong church, a powerful city, and even a nation. On the other hand, a family that nurtures hatred amongst themselves is unforgiving, and behaves opposite to the will of God will lead the church down the lane of destruction and weaken a nation.
Which kind are we?
Devotion for Parents
Let us be good role models to our children. Build communication and be more present in our children’s lives, not just giving money and gifts while letting helpers or other family members take our place as parents.
Resolve every problem in the family. Ask for forgiveness when you are in the wrong. That way, your children will be more open and trusting.
Devotion for Kids
Our parents are not perfect, for there is no perfect person. Our parents, just like everyone else, have weaknesses and shortcomings. If you think that your friends are blessed with the perfect parents, that’s because you have not lived with them.
As children, you are to respect and obey your parents. Have you been respectful and obedient to your parents? When they are wrong, forgive them and continue to pray for them.
Family Devotion Time
Talk about the weaknesses and strengths that each family member has.
Discuss how to turn each weakness into a strength.
