DAY 8 OF 14

WATER IS WILD DEVO

LYRIC EXCERPT:

We are a chosen generation

Baptized with tongues of fire

Believe in the promises

We’re gonna see what the prophet said

It’s more than a visitation

We are the house of God

Start living in the promises

Like you know who your Father is

Baptism is just one of many steps a person can take in their relationship with Jesus. It’s an outward expression of inward faith. It’s a declaration to the world that they’re seeking to continue to be more like Christ.

Even Jesus was baptized –– one of the many ways He continued to teach by example.

But steps in our faith aren’t all about having a list and checking it twice; they also come with promises that we can freely walk in.

Before His ascension into Heaven, Jesus introduces us to a new kind of baptism. He told His disciples that, “For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”” (Acts 1:5).

Where water baptism is a one-time event, the Holy Spirit opened a door for a new kind of relationship with God –– a level of connection that we always have access to.

When we call on the Holy Spirit, we can expect to find that it’s ever-present: there to comfort us, give us strength, and empower us. That’s the beauty of this new kind of baptism – we are never alone. The Holy Spirit guides us and God affirms us every step of the way just like He did the moment after Jesus was baptized, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

As you head into this next week, know that God’s spirit rests upon you and His approval still rings true for you today.

About this Plan

Lion Devotional

In Revelation, we see Jesus as the “Lion of the tribe of Judah” and the “Lamb who was slain.” So much of God’s kingdom embodies paradox; even Jesus Himself was sovereign AND He submitted to authority. He’s the beginning AND the end. He isn’t relegated to one or the other. Join us for this 14-day study as we learn about how God’s kingdom and character may surprise us.
