Day 6: We Teach Disciples to Propagate Spiritually.

In 2 Timothy 2:2, Paul wrote to the young man he discipled: “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” This verse includes four categories of believers: Paul, Timothy, reliable men, and others. Here we see the “bottom line” of Christ’s commission: He not only wants us to help others become more adept in practicing their faith, He wants us to equip others so they, too, are able to make disciples.

As new believers experience the process of spiritual growth in their own lives and see their patient mentors lovingly show how to develop a prospering relationship with their Savior and Lord, they will develop a keen sense of what it takes to make other disciples.

Being a disciple-maker doesn’t require that we have all the answers. But when we don’t, even that can be a positive learning experience for disciples—they discover that the successful Christian life is still possible without knowing all the 'whys' and 'hows' or 'whats.' That gives them the confidence to seek out their own people to disciple without the fear of not knowing enough.

How motivating it is to know—and for your disciples to learn from your example—that it doesn’t take a degree in Christian ministry to make disciples . . . only a personal commitment to Christ, His Word, and being yielded and sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Honestly, sometimes it’s simply being one step ahead of the person you’re discipling!
