Today Is Going to Be a Good DaySample
Today is going to be a good day because regardless of what other people do to us or our loved ones, we have the privilege to pray for them and trust our heavenly Father with them.
God knows it all and He has told us to pray without ceasing. Evil happens, and so many times we want to take things into our own hands, but that would not be trusting God as our defender and protector.
He has told us to love our neighbor. So, we pray for that person who is doing wrong, asking the Lord for the scales to fall from their eyes and for them to realize their need for Jesus. We can also ask Him to not let them get away with their wickedness but to bring them down in His mercy and grace.
We want God’s will above everything else. The Lord gives us tools to work with for not taking offense, not seeking retribution out of anger, but to truly seek His perfect will for that person. We know He has a plan for their life just as He does for ours.
I had a friend whom I cared for deeply. I thought she knew my heart. But she misinterpreted my words and my actions, and then shared her perceptions with others in a slanderous manner. My heart felt like it had been slashed in half, with the carnage exposed for all to see.
I wanted to take an offense. But more than that, I wanted my heavenly Father to be pleased with me, which meant I needed to choose obedience to him and his word. He knew my heart, and that I was innocent of the charges, even if no one else knew the truth.
Instead of retaliation, I chose to pray for my friend, and that the Holy Spirit would share the truth straight from his heart to hers. This allowed me to rest in the peace that God is my defender.
Father, when our hearts are hurt by others, help us to remember that hurt people hurt other people. Help us to show your love to them, not through offense or retaliation, but by forgiving them, loving them, and prayerfully committing them into your hand for you know every detail of the situation and you love them as much as you love me. Thank you for being a good and just God. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
