Returning to the Gospels

DAY 2 OF 5

Are you still depending on God?

In the sermon on the mount, verses 3 to 6 address those who depend on God:

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."

Some interpret the phrase "those who mourn" to refer to those who are in the midst of persecution or poverty. But this verse also includes those who weep under the weight of pain, condemnation and guilt.

We can see God's provision in the midst of our need, we can also experience his strength when we feel weak, but we must not forget that we can also depend totally on his mercy.

The enemy will always try to crush us with the weight of condemnation, but Jesus carried that burden on his shoulders, and through him we can find forgiveness and help.

If we want to return to the Gospels and follow the map that Jesus laid out for us, we have to depend completely on his mercy and not allow condemnation to limit us.

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."

The sermon on the mount also tells us that God blesses those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, hunger and thirst to do what is right before God.

We all make mistakes, and it is important for us to understand that no matter how hard we try, it will be impossible to reach perfection. However, God is not looking for perfection; he is looking for hearts that have a constant desire to grow, mature and live according to his will.

Today I want to encourage you not to depend on so many other things that the world offers, but depend on God in the first place, so that your soul finds everything it needs in him.

Prayer: Lord, I want to depend completely on you, I want you to take the first place in every area of my life. Thank you that in you I find freedom and restoration. In Jesus' name. Amen.
