Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. [6] The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. -Romans 8:5,6

Our greatest warfare comes from within. This is why the enemy is always trying to influence our thoughts. As a man thinks - so is he. Our thoughts shape our reality.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the spirit, the things of the spirit. For to be carnally minded is death: but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:5,6

I lived with a carnal mind for many years. I received Christ into my life around 2007 and continue to walk with the Lord today. My relationship with God wasn’t very strong back then because of habits that I had formed in my flesh.

I was addicted to porn for 30 years. When I was in the world, I thought nothing of it; once I gave my life to Christ, I was immediately convicted by the Holy Spirit of this and other sins. I wanted to live my life for God in the correct fashion. I understood what I was doing was wrong, but I didn’t understand how to stop. Nor did my flesh want to stop!

By the renewing of my mind through God’s word. I began to understand that the Holy Spirit is not only a comforter but also a corrector, guide and teacher. It is up to us to adhere to his instructions. The more sensitive we are to his voice, the clearer and more recognizable it is. Ask God for His help to bend your heart toward obedience, each day.
