Running Our Race - Going for Gold

DAY 2 OF 5

If there were such a thing as a “Runners Hall Of Fame”, where would your personal Christian hero or heroine be likely to be found?

Where do you think we would find the names of John Wesley? Paul of Tarsus? Hudson Taylor? John Calvin? Mother Teresa? Keith Green? Barnabas? St. Francis of Assisi? Jim Elliott? Andrew Murray? Martin Luther King, Amy Carmichael, George Mueller, Lecrae? Your personal Christian Hero? What would be the difference between them and ….. us?

If the passion in the heart of Christians to excel in their service to Jesus in the Body of Christ, and to fulfill God’s plan and will for their lives today were to be measured and graphed in a bell curve, with hot at one end, cold at the other, and lukewarm in the middle, most Christians would fall somewhere near the midpoint. Sometimes a little hot other times a bit chilly, where would we fit? Does it matter?

Is all this a little morbid? Are you wondering where we are going with this? And what does it have to do with my life and purpose as a Christ-follower? Well, we are going to propose that God is looking for some new heroes. The heavenly Hall of Fame is not yet full.

The most prominent place is taken but there are vacancies yet to be filled and some of them will come from our generation and will be produced through people like us, ordinary people as the world might judge us. But maybe not so ordinary in God’s eyes. In fact, God makes no ordinary Christians and Jesus calls no part-time disciples. God places in us all we need to be extraordinary at what He creates us to do in His Kingdom and where we are today is where we are planted to do it. Think about that.

About this Plan

Running Our Race - Going for Gold

This study will discuss winning a gold medal in ”the race of life”, what a gold medal might be in spiritual terms and some basic elements that will be required to win gold as we run the race that is set before us as in Hebrews 12:1 relating literal with spiritual examples.
