Do It Afraid- Choosing Faith in the Midst of UncertaintySample
Matthew 9:32-33
"While they were going out, a man who was demon-possessed and could not talk was brought to Jesus. And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”
I don't know about you, but "demon-possessed and could not talk" is enough for me to know there had to be trembling and a sense of fear surrounding this man's condition. I love that even though this man could not speak or bring himself to ask Jesus for healing, he had amazing people around him who could. Maybe you're in a place where you don't even have the words to ask God for anything. You don't know what could help your situation in this moment, but you know there has to be more for your life than what you're currently experiencing. The uncertainty and the unknowing have become too much to handle.
Can I offer some hope?
So it was with this man. Even more so, he couldn't talk even if he did find the words. Yet, he did have people around him who could. The story continues to say, "...and when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke." So, again, one thing was present, the people who brought the man to Jesus trusted that if they could get him to Jesus, he could help them. They didn't know how, but they knew the man wouldn't be left the same after the encounter.
Who can you call today for prayer? Who can you confide in to go to God on your behalf? The beautiful thing is, even if you feel like you have no one, you have the holy spirit. The holy spirit is your helper, your guide.
In Luke 12:11-13 the Holy spirit taught the men at that time what they should say, and may you be given the same grace.
Let's pray.
God,
In Matthew 9:32-33, I read that you drove out a demonic spirit from a mute man and he was made to speak. I don't know all the details, but I do know you're the same God. Thank you for giving me examples in your word that help build my faith and trust in you. Lord, I don't know how to ask for what I need today. Just like the man from the story, I need help. I ask that the helper you sent me, the holy spirit, will help me utter the words I need to say.
I put my trust in your word and have decided despite any fear or feelings, I trust you to fulfill my needs. May I continue to exercise my faith by trusting you and believing in your word, knowing full well you still perform miracles daily. I love you and I thank you in advance. May what you do for me cause me to spread the news about you all over my region.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

About this Plan
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear (Franklin D. Roosevelt). When God makes us a promise or we need Him to show up in the midst of our situation, the only requirement asked of us is to believe. We hear all the time that we should be fearless & courageous. But, what if God only requires our Faith?
