Words Are GoldenSample
Known
To be known is to understand something or for someone to have information about something.
Recently I was scrolling on social media and saw multiple videos on “how to get more followers.” And while growing a following is good for business purposes, feeling like we will be “more known” if we have x number of followers on our social media will only leave us feeling isolated. Nothing can make us feel known to the extent that God knows us. God fully understands us and God is aware of every single thing about us. We are so deeply known by God. He sees us right where we are, knows every detail of our life, and chooses to love us.
Social media also affects us in the sense of feeling lonely from comparison. We see our friends together and we weren't invited. We pick and choose what we want others to know about us. Only left to feel empty and alone. We long to feel known by others, which truly is so important, but we easily forget how deeply known we are by the Lord.
We look to the things of this world to try and feel known and are never satisfied. But, the bible tells us that the Lord fully knows us. He knows where we have been, He knows where we are, and He knows where we are going. He knows what makes us smile, He knows what upsets us, and He knows our heart's deepest desires and longings. He wants to show us how truly known we are by Him. He wants to lavish His love on us through Him knowing us so specifically. He formed us in our mother’s wombs, knew us by name before our parents gave us a name, and sees us for who we truly are. In Him, we are fully known and fully loved.
As you go about your day today, think about how you can make those around you feel seen and known. Reach out to someone who has made you feel known and thank them.
Pray: Lord, thank you for choosing to love me. Remind me that my worth solely comes from you and will never be satisfied with things of this world. Thank you for knowing me so well. Amen
