God is there for us as we face troubles
by Rev. Joel Gaertner
What was your reaction when you read the title of this devotion? Did your mind go to the fighting and hatred happening across our country and the world? Did it reassure you during a personal battle you are currently facing?
God is there for us as we face troubles because of sin. This verse is a reminder and encouragement to trust in God about something far greater and more important – our faith and eternal salvation.
The devil is a master at throwing those sins and their consequences in our face and making us doubting and fearful.
That is why we participate in the Lenten journey; it’s an opportunity for us to humbly reflect not just on our sin, but on our Savior. While this journey may not be new, take this Lenten season to really reflect on all that your Savior did for you and what it means.
We can trust and not be afraid, because Jesus completed everything needed to give us forgiveness and salvation!
God continues to work on our behalf with his grace and almighty power. We can trust and not be afraid of what sin causes to happen in our world – war, hatred, sickness, pain, and sorrow. Our God invites us to trust in him and look to him for strength and help.
Prayer: Jesus, you are the Savior of our souls and our strength as we go through this life. Thank you for showing us God’s grace, love, and compassion. Thank you for inviting us to come to you with our prayers and problems. Thank you for being with us every day, forgiving our sins, reminding us of your presence, and guiding us to heaven. In your name, we gratefully pray. Amen.
