The Light of the World

DAY 3 OF 3

Yesterday, we read how Jesus took on human form to take on humanity’s punishment and break the curse of sin and death, but Jesus’ humanity doesn’t just impact our life after death: It gives us a pattern for how to start living our lives right now.

One title you may have heard for Jesus is “Immanuel,” Hebrew for “God with us.” Jesus, fully divine and fully human, is the ultimate example of perfect obedience and selfless love. When we believe in Jesus and give our lives to him, we should strive to obey God and love others, just like he did. Our attitude, thoughts, and behaviors should be a reflection of his.

As you read the Scripture for today, take your time with it. Scholars believe these verses were an early worship hymn Paul quoted in his letter. Let your reading today be a time of worship – pray these words back to God as an act of praise.

Read: Philippians 2:5-11

Reflection Questions:

  1. According to this passage, what did Jesus do for us?
  2. What are some ways you can have the same attitude as Jesus?
Day 2

About this Plan

The Light of the World

Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God. Through his death and resurrection, he broke the chains of sin and shone the light of God into the world. He calls us to join him by living in the light of God’s kingdom on earth. This Bible Plan is part 4 of 8 designed to go along with Feed’s “Foundations” small group series.
