Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 1Sample
In Exodus 3, Moses asked God, “What is Your name?” God answered with a strange response, “I AM” (Exodus 3:14).
As we look closer, this answer, this identity statement, is a wonder-filled promise of just who and what God wants to be in our lives. Simply put, God was saying, "I'm everything for you."
Years later John recorded 7 classic “I AM” statements that Jesus made:
“I am the bread of life” (John 6:35).
“I am the light of the world” (John 8:12).
“I am the door of the sheep” (John 10:7).
“I am the good shepherd” (John 10:11).
“I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25).
“I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
“I am the true vine” (John 15:1).
John records that Jesus said, "I am" in the garden on the night of his arrest. “And the moment Jesus spoke the words, “I am he,” the mob fell backward to the ground!”
Jesus proved that he was greater than the guards' expectations and more than they could comprehend. He's more than a revolutionary; he's the real king. Rather than being a rogue preacher, he's the one proclaiming the Kingdom of Truth. He’s not simply Jesus of Nazareth, whom they came to arrest. He is God Himself - the Great I AM.
That night, Jesus was in charge and the guards couldn't seize him unless he allowed it. To bring us salvation, our Saviour willingly submitted to men's hands.
Are there any problems we face today that are too big for Him to handle?
He is and will always be everything we need.
