1 JohnSample

Yesterday, we read that we will overcome the world by believing that Jesus is the Son of God. In 1 John 5:6-12, John tells us how we can be sure that Jesus is the Son of God - through God’s testimony.
In Church, we talk about sharing our testimony with non-believers; our testimony is just the story of what God has done in our lives. For me, I could talk about how I went to a religious elementary school but didn’t come to really know God until I went to a youth event in high school. Or I could share how God transformed me from an angry young adult into a woman who can healthily process my emotions.
But what my testimony doesn’t have to do is convince people that Jesus is God’s Son, that’s what God’s testimony is for, and His testimony is greater than ours because He’s God! 1 John 5:6-8 outlines God’s testimony, how He reveals Jesus is His Son through Jesus’ baptism (the water) and crucifixion (the blood). The Holy Spirit also confirmed this by descending on Jesus at His baptism (John 1:32-34) and continues to confirm this truth in our hearts.
Praise God for His testimony - that we can be assured that He has given us eternal life through His Son!
Prayer Points
- Ask God to give you the confidence to share your testimony, knowing that His testimony is greater than yours!
- Pray for non-believers in your life that their hearts will be open to hear and accept God’s testimony about Jesus.
