Your Breakthrough Year: 5 Days of Inspiration to Kickstart Your New YearSample
DAY 1 – THE BREAKTHROUGH
I founded a church and it is not for the faint of heart. We moved to a new state and with ten families meeting in a basement we started our church. We hand-addressed over 4000 envelopes inviting people to come to the first service.
Years later I was the opening speaker at Church Planting Boot Camps. My inspirational message was “The Few, The Proud, The Church Planters.” They are the special forces of God’s army. Taking ground from the enemy is not easy but it is necessary for the Kingdom to be advanced.
There are many challenges in the early days of starting a church but if God blesses you with growth there will be new challenges. The facility issue is always a big one. We couldn’t rent forever in our community, and at some point a building became necessary.
We raised money to buy the property and began the search for the right location. It was a long and exhausting process. We looked at 25 different sites and determined that none of them were right for our church.
We needed a breakthrough - something miraculous had to happen for us to get the perfect piece of property. In the church world, it’s not so much location, location, location as accessibility, accessibility, accessibility.
One day a man in the church who was a realtor told me he could set up a meeting with the president of the biggest real estate developer in our area. At that meeting, I asked him about a piece of property they owned. It was the site I had always wanted.
The property was on a four-lane road that was an interstate exit. There were 1000 feet of frontage and it was opposite the largest housing development in the area. Incredibly he told me they would sell our church property. And then he told me the price would be $348,000 for a site worth over $1,000,000!
We had our breakthrough and it changed our church forever. In the first year after the facility was built, we almost doubled in size. 1 Chronicles 14:11 tells us, “David said, ‘I defeated my enemies because God broke through them like a mighty flood’ So he named the place ‘The Lord Broke Through.’”
God can give you a breakthrough too. When it happens, it will be like a flood of marvelous blessings. You must seek God fervently for it... and many times, it will take longer than you want for it to happen. But God will do it, the breakthrough will come and your life will never be the same.
