Tithing: What Jesus Said About TithesSample

Yesterday we explored the only actual mention of tithing that Jesus made in the new testament.
While he was relatively quiet about tithing, he wasn’t quiet at all about giving.
And from this passage in Mark 12 he highlights this widow for her sacrificial giving. Who didn’t just give 10%, but gave everything she had.
Could it be that as New Covenant believers who have been given such a gift with Jesus that He might not want us to be legalistic in giving exactly 10%, but rather that we surrender everything we have to Him? That with open hands we give as He leads us?
The honest truth is that it is ALL His anyway (Psalm 24:1) and if so, then we are at our best when we don’t see giving 10% as the finish line of our giving, but just a milestone on the journey.

About this Plan

Ever wonder what Jesus said about tithing? Is this still something new covenant believers should do? We can learn a lot by digging into the Bible to see what Jesus did and didn’t say about tithing and generosity, and that's what we are going to do in this plan.
