Loving the Other: Jesus RevolutionSample
Searching in All the Wrong Places
The childhood game of hide and seek is a lot of fun. When playing with young kids, it is funny to see some places they look (in a kitchen drawer or a place in plain view). It seems like they are searching in all the wrong places. This was a characteristic of the hippie movement of the 1970s. There was a major cultural shift taking place. Youths were looking for meaning and self-definition. However, they were not looking in the right places to find it. Watch this clip for an example.
Jesus uniquely solved this problem. Instead of trying to get people to look in the right place, Jesus took the right place to them. This idea is even a part of how Jesus came to earth. The shepherd and wise men went to a stable, not a palace. His birth was witnessed by animals, not servants. Instead of telling people they are looking in the wrong place, why not take the place to them? It begins by trying to speak the language they can understand. It also involves going to the places where they are looking for answers. We are surrounded by opportunities to go where people are. Take a step today in that direction.
Application Questions:

About this Plan
Is it hard for you to love people who are not like you? Or do you sometimes feel like you don't fit in? Jesus understands the challenge. Yet, He loved others no matter what they looked like, believed, or experienced. This powerful message continues to change lives. JESUS REVOLUTION is the story of the 70's generation embracing Jesus' kind of love. It can happen again today, starting with you.
