Light it Up
We have a good mate who struggled with depression. There was a time where he'd stuff blankets in the windows, switch off the lights and live in darkness for days at a time. We wrote this song for him. I remember well the 1st time we played it for him. We didn't have the heart to tell him we wrote it for him for fear of offending him. Needless to say, it was his favorite song we'd ever written.
Months went by and eventually we felt we had to share the truth. So one afternoon when we were all 3 in the same room we told him. He didn't really say much. He stood slowly, walked out of the room, shut the door, got in his car and drove off, and we thought we’d blown it. About 20 minutes later he called us and with tears in his voice he said, "Thank you for writing that song for me. It gives me HOPE." It was in that moment that we realized music has power. But when you merge the power of music with the ultimate power of the gospel, it not only has the ability to impact our day, but it can transform our lives for eternity.
We don’t know where you’re at in your life. You might literally be walking through hell on earth but take heart in this, ‘He has overcome the world’ - John 16:33

Midweek Note:
We’re halfway through our week together and we wanted to share a quick note about something that’s been screaming at us lately.
We all live the modern age of LED billboards, smart phones and flat screen TV’s. It’s a bit of a rat-race really. I don’t know about you but, ‘slowing down’ is one of the hardest practices I endeavor to implement.
I’ve felt the need in my Spirit for a few years now to take one day away each month. I initially suppressed the prompting up until recently. So when the ‘get away’ day came I switched off my phone, closed the laptop, clear the schedule and just read and listened and pray. It was tough. Silence can be scary, but I’ve realized it’s so essential. Psalm 46:10 says ‘Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God’. So, on that note, let’s take a moment. Stop. Listen. Refresh.
