Biblical JusticeSample

Why does injustice exist?
In the beginning, God created everything. After completing everything, he saw “it was very good.”
There’s a word used to describe this in the Bible - shalom. Maybe you’ve heard shalom in terms of peace, but it’s so much bigger than that. Shalom is when God, people, and all of creation are in perfect relationship. It is when everything is exactly the way God intended it to be.
Clearly, we don’t live in that world. Things are far from perfect. That’s because of sin. God created humans with the ability to choose whether they would trust him or themselves. People decided to trust in themselves, and because of this, sin entered the world. Sin goes against God’s best for us and the world. Sin broke the perfect relationship between God, humanity, and creation. This is why we experience injustice today.
Next Step: Today, take a second to look around- and make a list of the way things were designed to be in the earth versus the way they are now. Here are two to get you started: “no sadness” and “depression and anxiety”
