Heaven’s Getting Louder
It’s been said that we are prone to wander. It seems to be an innate part of being human. Our desire for adventure and our need for purpose compels us to move until we find what’s missing. The plight of wandering, however, is that it lacks aim. Aimless wandering makes the heart grow weary and the once hopeful soul becomes hopeless.
In Genesis, in the beginning, at the start of time, we see that things were as they should be. ‘]"The Maker who came up with breathing" breathed life into us and we had proximity with the Father. But then, as we’ve known humanity is prone to do, we wandered away from the God we loved. Our sin left us separated from the Father.
Lost. Aimless.
Many of us find ourselves still wandering today. Searching for that place we know we were made for. May it be now at this moment that we hear Jesus calling out and inviting us to that place.
To the table. With Him.
May it be now in this moment that we see that Jesus has always been leaving the 99 to find us, reaching out his hand with good news. That a way has been made for us to be in proximity with Him again. May it be now in this moment that we see Heaven is within our reach. May it be now at this moment that we feel our story changing. The lost being found. Peasants becoming princes. Old things being made new.
May our wandering lead us to rest in the God we love. May it be now in this moment that we hear Heaven getting louder, as the praises of angels are getting wilder that the lost have come home.
God, thank you for chasing us. Thank you for choosing us. Thank you for forgiving us when we wander like sheep or prodigals and for always welcoming us home with open arms and a celebration. Help us to see and remember Your radical, beautiful grace and to extend it to those around us in response. May the eyes of our heart be opened to the hope that we have in You. Amen.
