Devotional:

When you hear the word “battle” what crosses your mind? Do your knees shake or does your heart respond by saying, “You can do this!” Think about the story of David and Goliath. When David entered the battlefield and saw a giant taunting an army of God’s people, instead of running away from the battle, David ran toward Goliath. He chose not to fear, and instead questioned why an army of God’s chosen people viewed a person without a relationship with Almighty God as a problem in their way. Think about it this way: God didn’t use a warrior trained in battle to defeat Goliath, but instead He used someone with a more powerful weapon; He used a shepherd boy who knew who he was and was fully confident in the God he served. Imagine what could happen if we chose to have this same mindset when a giant came our way?

If you are reading this today, I encourage you to spend time reading about how God is bigger than any trial, challenge, or circumstance you will ever face. Giants, or anything standing in our way between what we see and what God has said, will come and go. But what doesn’t change is God’s Word and who He says we are. When this truth hits your heart, like David, you may find yourself confidently running toward your own Goliath, fully convinced God is on your side and your battle is already won.
