Children Can Pray, Too!Sample

Day Two - Praising God for who He is.
When children think of prayer, the first thing that mostly comes to their minds is asking God for a new bicycle or to heal a family member. Our children must know that God always listens to them and is ready to provide for their needs, but He can only do those things out of the goodness of His heart.
Take time to sit down and speak with your child about the characteristics of God! For example, point out to your child that God provided the comfy bed they sleep in every night or that God provided their favorite meal. Pointing out the different things God has provided them will help them understand that God is a provider.
Another conversation you can have with your child is explaining how powerful God is. This conversation could sound like, "Hey, look at the sun in the sky. Do you know God spoke that into existence? Or how about the moon at night? Do you know that God created it with the words of His mouth? Do you know that means He is extremely powerful? Another word for powerful is Omnipotent."
Before your child can praise God for who He is, you first have to show them exactly who He is. Pointing out all the wonderful things God has done will help your child visualize God and propel them to praise Him for who He is. For my early learners, I like to tell them to praise God because He is simply amazing.
Often, God is called “Almighty,” describing Him as the One who possesses all power and authority (2 Corinthians 6:18; Revelation 1:8). In fact, Paul says that God is “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20).

About this Plan

The Bible says, train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Prayer is one key area to build up a child. However, many parents do not know where to start or how to go about it. This Bible plan will equip parents with a simple strategy, P.P.R.A.Y, to teach their children to appreciate and value prayer and add it to their daily routine.
