Uncertainty can be paralyzing, yet it’s exactly in uncertain times that we need leaders. Fear of an unknown future and the unsettling of a restless culture may be your greatest obstacle and your greatest opportunity, to lead excellently.

Another Bible version renders the end of Colossians 1:27, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” When we shift our perspective from the future and the culture, to a person – the unchanging Savior – then uncertainty dissipates.

Recognize that you’ll need to be brave to make wise moral and relational choices that fly in the face of our society’s permissiveness and indiscretion. You’ll need to make wise financial choices that are counter-culture in a consumerism age. You serve a Creator, not a killjoy, and the universe has been designed around the paradox that surprising, overwhelming freedom floods in when we play by the rules. The terms and conditions set upon our lives by the Architect of galaxies and molecules are only ever to shield us and to liberate us to live fully, with the hope of glory.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: Regardless of the variables, unknowns and pressures, could you relax and lead comfortably today, because Christ is in you?
