Compromise With God
Have you ever been shopping with someone, and Your Story shows you the new cushions they want for their sofa? Yes, you like it; no, you don’t; that’s not a good colour. OK, what about this one? If we’re honest, we compromise all the time. We’re happy to concede ground on some things and then stubbornly dig in on others.
If it’s OK to compromise on the colour of cushions, it’s a different matter compromising in your relationship with God. Telling yourself that it won’t matter if I do this, or God’s not going to care if I do that, is compromising the instructions that God has given to us through His Word.
Compromise nibbles away at the fullness of life God wants us to have. True goodness is only found in God. We take refuge in Him against the pressure the world puts on us to give in to sin, to capitulate to the calls of temptation, those things we know are wrong, and yet, we’re prepared to concede.
2 Peter 1:3 assures us that knowing God gives us everything we need to live a life that is godly. We should open our hearts to the reassurance that we don’t need to compromise on anything. The verse in Deuteronomy tells us to look to the Lord and stay true to the path He has laid before us. Turn neither to the right nor the left, knowing that you aren’t alone, that He is with you each and every step. You are in God’s hands, surrounded by His love. Knowing this will bring hope and peace, and joy.

About this Plan
God is the great creator and yearns for a healthy relationship with us. As Laura says, this plan: God ‘doesn’t need us to get the words right for the exchange to be worthwhile.’ It’s a relationship – just you and God in a free and loving exchange.
