Beyond BeliefSample

In ancient Greece, they had this story about people they called Oracles. Oracles were very wise people who the ancient Greeks believed had special wisdom or insight into any problem. If you had a complicated problem or needed life wisdom, Oracles definitely had the right answer. There was just one problem — they were kind of hard to find.
Oracles often made their homes on the tops of mountains, deep in dark forests, or in the middle of remote deserts. They weren't easy to find. If you wanted to talk to an Oracle, you had to prepare yourself for a long and dangerous journey. You could die on the way to the Oracle, so you had to make sure it was really worth the risk.
It would be a real bummer if our source of wisdom required a long and dangerous journey. Fortunately, that's not how God designed things. Just the opposite actually. In the Bible, John writes that God hears us when we ask for things. We don't need to ride a camel across the desert to ask God for wisdom. You can do it right now. You can do it every single day.
So when you ask God questions, you can ask with confidence. God's not trying to hide from you or make the answers hard to find. God could have spent eternity hiding up on a mountain but knew we'd need someone closer. And God is close enough for us to ask any question we have, whenever we have it.

About this Plan

The Bible is full of statements and stories that seem "beyond belief." Some sound too miraculous — like, did God really split a whole sea in half? Other things sound too good to be true — like, is God really as loving, patient, or powerful as Scripture says? If you've ever wondered if what the Bible says is really worth believing, this devotional is for you.
