Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 8Sample

Luke 10 verse 2 says: "He told them, 'The harvest is abundant but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.'"
As Israel was largely a nation of farmers, Jesus often used parables that referenced plants and crops. The most well-known is probably the parable of the sower, where Jesus compared the gospel to seed and the hearts of the hearers to different soils.
Jesus is using this metaphor to explain the fact that in the future there is going to be a lot of need for more workers in the Kingdom of God to spread the good news.
That's where we, as the church, come in. Did you know that the church is the only organisation that exists for the sake of their non-members? We get comfortable with people in our environment, and we may think this is the only crowd we need to reach. But Jesus is calling us to go out into the world and spread the good news to everybody. We simply cannot solely rely on our pastors and our church workers to do this job because we simply do not have enough staff capacity. WE (all of us) are the body of Christ.
I want to encourage you today with the fact that no matter where you may find yourself in your work life, you have the opportunity and influence to be the light and to spread the good news.
