Unbreakable: Surviving Life's TrialsSample

Day 1: Childhood Trauma
I remember being ashamed of everything. I was constantly being compared to everyone around me. This generational curse and negative way of viewing others was so draining, but it became a way of life. I was compared to my cousins, my friends, my classmates… I would never measure up to how pretty they all were. I would never have less-frizzy hair – like them. My friends had a lot more freedom than I did. I would never be able to go to the movies to meet them or shop at the mall without parental supervision. My classmates had better clothes and, of course, acne-free skin. I would never look as cool as they did. When nothing you do is ever good enough (especially to those closest to you), eventually, you believe the hype – you’ll never measure up. Family has a way of causing unintentional, emotional trauma.
DON’T GIVE UP!
Our God created us with unique potential. He crafted us with our talents and budding personalities in mind. He makes no mistakes. Evil in the world, manifested by those around us, wants to break us down. Evil would have us believe we’re worthless long before we recognize our priceless potential.
Look to Jesus for your worth! He thinks you are so important and so loved that He gave up His life for you. Simply for you to be able to spend eternity with Him. That’s nothing to be ashamed of, and that’s nothing to give up on! Your worth is priceless to God.
