THE DARKEST DAY
Stormy clouds or an eclipse of the sun can make the daytime very dark! But this day was dark for other reasons too.
Jesus had filled people’s lives with hope, and now he was dead. Imagine how his friends must have felt. Lonely, hopeless – what else? Make a list, on paper or in your head.
Most of Jesus’ followers were too confused to do anything – except one man, Joseph from Arimathea. Verse 51 tells us that he did not agree with what others were doing: he was a brave man to show his respect for Jesus. Look at verses 52 and 53 to see what he did.
Others wanted to do something, too. How did the women show their respect for Jesus? Look at verses 55 and 56 to find out.
Joseph and the women were being brave and kind. What could you do today to be kind and show your respect for someone?
Pray: Ask God to help you to be kind and brave, even when you don’t feel like it.
