8 Keys to Sharing Genuine Appreciation at Work

DAY 6 OF 8

Extending Generosity and Hospitality

Throughout the Bible, believers are given many examples of what it means to give to the poor and needy. At times we may forget about fellow Christians who are also in need. The beauty of Romans 12:13 is that we are reminded to look after the needs of others who call themselves Christ-followers.

In Philippians 2:4, we are asked to look after the interests of others. If there is a need among our assembly, we must do our best to see about this need and contribute however we can. No one among us should go without. There’s a collective effort to ensure that no one lacks anything they need. We can't allow a scarcity mindset to convince us that we don't have the resources.

We should extend brotherly love to one another, according to Romans 12:10. That brotherly love goes hand in hand with generosity and hospitality. Because these are our brothers and sisters, they’re not strangers. This should make it easy for us to open our home to them and provide monetary, emotional, or spiritual support. God blesses us so that we can be a blessing to others, even more so to other saints.

In the western world, our individualistic ideals at times get in the way or our willingness to support other believers. But we have to get outside of ourselves and serve, just as Jesus would serve. There are plenty of opportunities to do so if we look hard enough. However, we have to be willing to figure out the needs of our brothers and sisters and commit to meeting them with generosity and hospitality.

Look for those opportunities to show the love of Christ on display with generosity and hospitality.
