The Star
God said through the prophet Balaam:
“I see him, but not now;
I see him, but not up close.
A star will rise from Jacob;
a scepter shall rise out of Israel.”
The Magi from the East spotted the star and went to look for the descendant. When they left Jerusalem for Bethlehem, the star went before them and stopped over the place where the boy was, so they went into the house to worship him, and so the prophecy was fulfilled.
That night, an angel also appeared to the shepherds who were in the fields and said:
“I am bringing good news of great joy to you, which is for all the people: Today in the city of David the Savior has been born, who is Christ the Lord.”
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God, and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace among men on whom his favor is granted.”
Let us also praise God for the birth of Jesus, our Savior!
