The Parable of the Prodigal SonSample

Day 1: The Runaway: The Allure and Cost of Independence
We've all been there—enticed by the idea that freedom from responsibility will lead to happiness. The younger son in this parable chooses a life of reckless abandon, only to find out that such 'freedom' comes at a high cost. Similarly, it's easy to get drawn into the allure of living for the moment, forsaking long-term commitments for short-term gains.
What we find is that living without purpose or responsibility often leads to emptiness and regret. It may feel like freedom at first, but it's a freedom without substance or depth. The prodigal son realized this the hard way; he chose to learn from his mistakes and made the decision to return home.
Let’s pray:
Lord, help me recognize the emptiness in chasing fleeting pleasures and understand the deeper joy that comes from a life lived responsibly and purposefully.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
