Homecoming Fasting & Prayer DevotionalSample

Pray for Enemies
Daily Thought:
Let’s be honest; this one is a little hard to swallow. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches the characteristics of the kingdom of God and the family of God. Each component of these teachings is centered around peacefulness, meekness, and selflessness. In this case of today’s reading, Jesus instructs his people to pray even for their enemies—an action that is perhaps not intuitive but undoubtedly indicative of the heart of God.
Scripture Excerpt:
Matthew 5:44-45, ESV
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Prayer Point:
We all struggle with some people. Who do you struggle with specifically? Have the courage to pray prayers of intercession for them today. Be genuine and humble.
