Not What I Signed Up ForSample
Stay in Your Redemptive Story
Reflection:
God is doing a new thing in you. He is not plugging you into an old formula or repeating what He’s already done in the lives of others. Instead, He is fashioning a unique masterpiece of redemption using the pieces of your story.
However, it can be challenging to see God’s handiwork or want to stay in the story when you’re right in the middle of it. Perhaps you’re wondering how God could do something so great that your pain becomes purposeful.
Practice zooming out and trying to see your current season in the context of your whole life. Name the things that feel hard today and hand them over to God. Remind yourself that you can make choices each day to embrace God’s redemption in your life.
Consider the possibility that God may have more in store for your life because of your challenging seasons. He promises to bless you, not with earthly success but “with every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3, niv).
Although you may not have signed up for the struggles in your life, God is redeeming them—and you—within the big story of His love. His promises are steady, His goodness is sure, and He offers you His presence regardless of the season.
Lord, I am thankful for Your grace, and I trust that You have a good ending planned for my story. Although I don’t always feel hopeful, I choose to reaffirm my hope in You and the future You have for me.
